Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the upcoming next-generation entry in the long-running action-adventure series, has been officially delayed to 2028. This confirmation comes from Jeffrey Gattis, Amazon's video game boss, who spoke with The Game Business.
This revised schedule places Catalyst after the release of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which is now set to launch on February 12, 2027. Gattis stated, "Legacy of Atlantis comes February 12th of next year and then we'll follow on in 2028 with the next one," though no more specific release window was provided for Catalyst.
Both titles were initially announced simultaneously in December of the previous year. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is being developed by Crystal Dynamics using Unreal Engine 5 and was previously targeted for a 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with Amazon Game Studios set to publish. The game's official description details Lara Croft's new adventure in Northern India, following a mythical cataclysm that awakens ancient secrets and guarded forces. Lara must race against rival treasure hunters to uncover the truth and prevent a catastrophe that could reshape the future.
Previously, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis experienced its own delay in June, moving from its original 2026 target to the current February 12, 2027 date. Alix Wilton Regan will voice Lara Croft in both new games, taking over the role from Camilla Luddington, who voiced the character in the Survivor Trilogy.
Crystal Dynamics has faced internal challenges, including its fourth round of redundancies in twelve months as of March. Despite these staffing changes, the Embracer-owned studio has maintained its commitment to the Tomb Raider franchise. Amazon's involvement extends beyond publishing these games, as the company is also producing a Tomb Raider television series for Prime Video, starring Sophie Turner.
