Tormentum 2 has officially launched, bringing its signature Giger-inspired biomechanical horror to players. The new title is a standalone experience, continuing the dark fantasy aesthetic established in its predecessor, Tormentum: Dark Sorrow. Development for the sequel spanned eight years, following the original game's release over a decade ago.

A Darkly Inspired World

The Tormentum series draws heavy inspiration from the surreal and often unsettling works of artists like H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński. Previous games that have tapped into similar thematic territory include the puzzle adventure Dark Seed and the more recent horror title Scorn. Tormentum: Dark Sorrow, the first entry, featured hand-painted environments filled with skeletal figures, alien anatomy, and disconcerting human forms integrated into the environment.

Gameplay and Story

Tormentum 2 places players within a simulated world that has spiraled out of control. Characters within this digital realm become self-aware and begin to speak of otherworldly deities. Players must navigate the islands that comprise this world, solve a variety of puzzles, and ultimately work towards one of multiple possible endings. The game follows the same stylistic direction as the original, presenting a landscape filled with macabre imagery.
