Creative Assembly, the developer behind the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 40,000, has revealed that the game will feature the largest unit ever created for the Total War series. This colossal unit, the Ork Stompa, was showcased during a recent full battle livestream.

David Petry, battle product owner, stated during the stream that the team aimed to "put the biggest thing that we could get away with in a Total War game." While acknowledging the potential for even larger units in future content, the Stompa currently holds the record for the biggest unit in the franchise. "This will be the biggest thing we’ve had in a Total War," Petry confirmed.

The Stompa is described as a crude yet formidable Ork creation, functioning as a walking, shooting battle fortress. It is equipped with multiple large guns and a massive claw for close-quarters combat, posing a significant threat to enemy armor and infantry alike. The unit is crewed by several Orks, supported by numerous Grot riggers, runners, and assistants.

During the livestream demonstration, the Astra Militarum attempted to destroy the Stompa with an orbital strike, a powerful but infrequently usable attack. Despite the devastating assault, the Stompa survived the initial impact, though it was ultimately destroyed shortly after. Developers expressed surprise at its resilience.

Creative Assembly is actively planning to introduce even larger units into Total War: Warhammer 40,000 in the future, sparking speculation about potential additions like Titans or Tyranid Bio-Titans. The game is expected to eventually include the Tyranid faction.

While Total War: Warhammer 40,000 does not yet have a confirmed release date, Creative Assembly is regularly providing updates. Recent news also included the confirmation of Ork Warboss Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub joining the game and the announcement of other named characters, though their specific in-game functions remain undisclosed.
