A deleted scene from the hit film Toy Story 5, which would have shown the first encounter between Jessie and Bullseye, has been revealed. Though the sequence never received a full 3D animation, a hand-drawn version complete with dialogue, rough 2D animation, and sound effects will be featured in the movie's home release, set to arrive digitally on August 18 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD starting September 22.
The excised scene reportedly takes place just before the events of Toy Story 2. It depicts Jessie meeting Bullseye after the horse toy became part of Al's collection. Al, the antagonist of Toy Story 2, was seeking to acquire all four Woody's Round-Up collectibles to sell them to a Japanese buyer. During this interaction, Jessie would have learned about Bullseye's previous owner while attempting to soothe him. Similar to Jessie's former child owner, Emily, Bullseye would have been shown bearing the name of his prior owner, Charlie. The scene would have seen the two toys bond over their shared experiences of abandonment and Jessie promising to help Bullseye find a new home.
Social media reactions to the revealed scene expressed disappointment, with fans writing sentiments such as "We were robbed" and "Wish they kept this in the movie."
This is not the first cut sequence from Toy Story 5 to surface. An earlier iteration of the film was planned to conclude with a reunion between Emily and Jessie, a concept that was ultimately discarded. Despite such changes, Toy Story 5 achieved significant box office success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide and becoming the third highest-grossing film of 2026. IGN's review of the film noted its successful integration of new characters and strategic sidelining of legacy characters to provide a satisfying conclusion, while also acknowledging the potential for future installments.
