Troy Baker has indicated that Naughty Dog's upcoming title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is pushing the boundaries of what the studio is capable of. Speaking at Ottawa Comiccon, Baker, who is also involved in the new sci-fi adventure, told attendees they "are not ready" for the game, with footage of his panel circulating on social media.
Baker shared that Naughty Dog recently concluded performance capture for the new intellectual property. He drew a parallel between the casting of Tati Gabrielle as the game's protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, and Ashley Johnson's role as Ellie in The Last of Us. "She is the spiritual successor," Baker stated, remarking on Druckmann's ability to find talented actors. He further elaborated that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet feels like a blend of Uncharted, The Last of Us, and something entirely new, emphasizing that the studio is "testing the bounds of what that studio is capable of."
Details about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet remain scarce since its reveal at The Game Awards 2024. Director and writer Neil Druckmann has previously described the game as "incredible" and noted that he has been dedicating more focus to its development, stepping away from HBO's The Last of Us series. While the studio has called it their "most ambitious game to date," the first reveal trailer is the only visual representation released so far.
Despite the lack of a firm release date, Naughty Dog's ongoing work suggests progress.
