Ubisoft Clarifies Stance on Future Assassin's Creed Remakes

Ubisoft has issued a clarification regarding the development of future Assassin's Creed remakes. Following the recent release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the 2013 pirate adventure, fans have speculated about additional remakes within the popular franchise. Although CEO Yves Guillemot previously hinted at the possibility of multiple remakes, Ubisoft has now stated that no other Assassin's Creed remakes are currently in active development.

The company updated fans on the franchise's status, emphasizing that its development teams are prioritizing new entries in the series. "Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin's Creed titles, including projects you haven't heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories," Ubisoft announced.

Despite the current lack of active remake projects, Ubisoft has not ruled out the possibility of future remakes or rereleases. "Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we'll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back. That door remains open because, after all... Nothing is true, everything is permitted," the company stated, referencing the series' well-known creed.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft detailed several other Assassin's Creed projects in development. Assassin's Creed Invictus, a multiplayer PvP title, recently underwent a private playtest. Ubisoft reported positive player feedback on the return of PvP elements and confirmed that the development team is working to incorporate player suggestions.

Progress is also being made on Codename Hexe, described as a darker project within the franchise. Ubisoft plans to share a more substantial update on Codename Hexe in 2027. The company also shared a cryptic message related to this project:

ZKLWAVN MBEXNK ULYCNJ... LWY01... I#########F // QNTMAKHX TWTEMZL. YSIZKQ AADSWX NFAAMPHP.//

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the Assassin's Creed franchise, and Ubisoft has indicated that further details on how it plans to celebrate this milestone will be revealed in the coming months.
