Ubisoft has announced that it is currently not developing any further remakes of the Assassin's Creed series. This decision comes as the company shifts its focus toward the development of new entries in the franchise, including projects with previously unannounced settings and stories. While no other remakes are actively in development, Ubisoft stated it will continue to "explore opportunities" to bring older titles back to modern platforms.
Development is progressing on two new major Assassin's Creed titles. Codename Hexe, described as a darker experience, is slated for an update in 2027, with the development team aiming for a "unique vision." Meanwhile, Codename Invictus, a multiplayer entry, is also taking shape. Ubisoft recently conducted a playtest of an early prototype, and feedback indicated that while players saw potential, they desired more core Assassin's Creed elements. The team is reportedly incorporating this feedback to better align the game with the series' defining pillars while maintaining its multiplayer focus.
In parallel with these new developments, Ubisoft is releasing a final major update for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. This update introduces New Game Plus, Nightmare Mode, new rewards, finishers, trinkets, and expanded customization options. Additionally, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will receive its long-requested New Game Plus mode on November 5. This update will also include an optional progression system where gear, runes, and masteries influence Eivor's power level. Players can also acquire new gear, a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin's Creed Shadows, and a new Mithril resource for upgrading gear to a "Divine" level.
This news arrives amidst a period of restructuring at Ubisoft, which has included game cancellations, studio closures, and layoffs. Notably, Trials developer RedLynx is reportedly being shut down, and 72 employees from Ubisoft Singapore, the studio behind Skull & Bones, were recently laid off.
