Ubisoft is reportedly developing at least two new Far Cry titles. One project, codenamed "Kodiak," has entered its development phase at Vantage Studios, a new subsidiary formed by Ubisoft and Tencent. This title is described as an open-world first-person shooter that emphasizes player interactions and emergent narratives.

Vantage Studios was established to focus on Ubisoft's major franchises, including Far Cry. The establishment of this studio suggests a renewed investment in supporting and expanding these established series.

Meanwhile, "Far Cry 7," codenamed "Blackbird," which has reportedly faced development challenges, appears to have recovered and is back on track. This mainline entry is intended to be a traditional single-player experience, though it may include a multiplayer component, potentially referring to co-operative play modes that have featured in previous installments.

Charlie Guillemot, co-CEO of Vantage, has described "Blackbird" internally as "honestly impressive" and views it as the potential first of multiple titles in a new direction for the series. Neither "Kodiak" nor "Blackbird" have been officially announced by Ubisoft, and release windows remain unknown. Given its apparent progress, "Blackbird" could be the next title Ubisoft formally unveils to the public.

The most recent entry in the franchise was "Far Cry 6," released in 2021. The series has been dormant for several years, with past projects failing to materialize publicly.
