Ubisoft has rebranded its Creative House 2, which is home to nearly all of the company's Tom Clancy-branded games, to Massive Entertainment. This change is causing some confusion as Massive Entertainment is also the name of one of Ubisoft's longest-serving studios.
The studio, Massive Entertainment, will continue to operate within the newly named Massive Entertainment Creative House. This division will focus on growing existing intellectual properties and developing new projects, such as the upcoming "March of Giants." According to Ubisoft, the development teams responsible for these franchises in Montréal, Paris, Sweden, and Toronto will now operate under the Massive Entertainment brand.
The studio named Massive Entertainment was founded in 1997 in Sweden and was acquired by Ubisoft in 2002. It has contributed to major titles like "Assassin's Creed Revelations" and "Far Cry 3," and developed two entries in "The Division" series. Its most recent release was "Star Wars Outlaws" in 2024, and it is currently working on "The Division 3."
This rebranding follows a similar move with Creative House 1, which is now known as Vantage Studios. Ubisoft has established five Creative Houses and one Creative Network to support its various studios.
The restructuring comes amidst broader cost-cutting measures at Ubisoft, which have led to game cancellations, studio closures, a return-to-office mandate, and layoffs across the company.
