Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Remake Continues Development Amidst Hiring Spree

Ubisoft is actively recruiting for multiple roles on the remake of the original Splinter Cell, indicating the project remains in active development. The game was first announced nearly five years ago, but has yet to receive any official gameplay footage or a trailer.

The recruitment drive, which includes positions such as level designer and producer, was noted by Insider Gaming. While job listings do not definitively indicate a project's specific stage of development, their emergence suggests continued progress for the stealth-action title. This is not the first time job openings for the remake have appeared, but in the current volatile landscape at Ubisoft, their reappearance provides a measure of reassurance for fans.

It remains unclear how the remake will adapt to contemporary geopolitical contexts, which differ significantly from those of the original 2002 release. Furthermore, the extent to which the remake might incorporate mechanics from later entries in the series, such as the action-oriented Mark & Execute feature popularized in Conviction and Blacklist, is yet to be determined.

Since the last mainline installment, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, was released in 2013, Sam Fisher has made cameo appearances in other Ubisoft titles, including guest missions in Ghost Recon and an appearance in Rainbow Six Siege. The franchise also expanded into animation with a Netflix series released last year, featuring Liev Schreiber as the voice of Sam Fisher.
