Ubisoft Shutting Down Rainbow Six Mobile Just Months After Launch

Ubisoft is ceasing operations for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Mobile, a mobile adaptation of the popular tactical shooter. The game, which officially launched globally in February 2026, will be shut down on January 15, 2027. The decision means the development team will transition to other long-term strategic projects within Ubisoft.

In an announcement on the game's official website, Ubisoft stated that there was "no easy way to put it" regarding the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile. The developers confirmed that the next planned season will still be released next week, and the game will remain playable until the January 2027 shutdown date.

Rainbow Six Mobile was initially announced in 2022, with a beta release in September of that year. It was designed as a mobile-friendly version of Rainbow Six Siege, aiming to offer the core gameplay experience on Android and iOS devices. Developers emphasized that the game was rebuilt from the ground up for mobile usability, featuring a new control system and optimized UI for touchscreen devices. The stated goal was not to replace PC or console play but to provide accessible, short bursts of gameplay and introduce new players to the Rainbow Six universe.

Rainbow Six Siege, the original title, was first released in December 2015 and has since amassed over 70 million registered players, maintaining a strong presence in popular game charts. Ubisoft has also released other titles in the franchise, including the mixed-received Rainbow Six Extraction in January 2022 and the upcoming Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics, slated for a 2027 release. Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
