Ubisoft has stated that the standard edition of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced provides the full and complete experience, addressing player feedback and negative Steam reviews concerning day-one downloadable content. In response to players expressing dissatisfaction over the availability of numerous purchasable extras at launch, the developer clarified that these items are entirely optional.
The Steam page for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced lists nine DLC packs, primarily consisting of cosmetic gear for protagonist Edward Kenway and his ship, along with a map pack designed to aid in locating collectibles. These additions have led to some players feeling that the game is incomplete without them, despite their cosmetic nature.
Ubisoft directly responded to several negative Steam reviews, assuring players that their feedback is being considered. "We want to be clear on one point: the standard edition is the full, complete experience," the publisher wrote. "Every mission, every island, the full story and the complete world are all there, with nothing held back. The additional packs are entirely optional extras for players who want them, never a requirement to enjoy or complete the game."
While acknowledging the validity of player concerns regarding paid cosmetic items, the development team reiterated their commitment to listening to the community as players continue to engage with the game. The emphasis remains that core gameplay and story elements are fully accessible in the base version of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
