Development images for a Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands sequel and a new Brothers in Arms game have surfaced online, accompanying reports that both projects were canceled.
The work-in-progress images were published by MP1st, which indicated that the games were in development at Lost Boys Interactive, a studio formerly owned by Embracer that has since returned to independent operation. Embracer sold Gearbox to Take-Two, the parent company of 2K Games, in 2024.
Lost Boys Interactive was involved in the development of the original Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a spin-off of Gearbox's Borderlands series, as well as Borderlands 4. This involvement makes the appearance of assets from a Wonderlands sequel unsurprising.
Following the commercial success of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a sequel was widely expected. In 2022, Gearbox chief Randy Pitchford described the game as a "major victory" and a new franchise with "future experiences already under development." He further stated during an Embracer Group annual general meeting that Wonderlands "shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially," and that the company had established a "firm beachhead" for a new franchise.
However, no new Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands game has been announced since. Gearbox has not revealed its next project following the release of Borderlands 4 last year.
The last main entry in the Brothers in Arms series was Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, released in 2008. A subsequent title, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, was canceled and later repurposed into the hero shooter Battleborn. Pitchford has alluded to a new Brothers in Arms game over the years, but it never materialized.
The leaked images offer limited insight into the games themselves, primarily confirming their developmental status. It remains unclear if these projects were canceled as part of Gearbox's sale to Take-Two. IGN has reached out for comment regarding the status of these titles and whether new versions are in development.
