Graceful Games, the studio behind the reality-bending puzzle title Maquette, has revealed its next project: Uncanyon. This new game focuses on a "puzzle-first" approach, set in a world where the very fabric of reality is fluid and constantly shifting.

Players will step into the shoes of Sonia, a young woman who finds herself in Uncanyon, a realm where "hills breathe, trees change color, and the land itself never stands still," according to the game's Steam page. The core of the gameplay appears to revolve around manipulating this dynamic environment. The reveal trailer showcased moments where the landscape morphs seamlessly, suggesting that players will need to alter the world's shape to progress.

This dynamic environmental manipulation is central to the game's puzzle design. While the full mechanics remain under wraps, the trailer hinted at puzzles involving timed actions, such as coordinating the movement of rolling barrels to sculpt the terrain to the player's advantage. This focus on environmental alteration aims to create a sense of wonder, a quality the developers feel is often difficult for modern games to achieve.

The game will also feature some combat, though it is described as secondary to the puzzle elements. Graceful Games emphasizes that Uncanyon is "puzzle-first," indicating that the primary experience will be rooted in solving its unique environmental challenges. The developers hope the world's contortions and reactions to player input will be a significant draw.

Uncanyon is slated for release in 2027, with a Steam page now available for wishlisting. The game promises a unique take on puzzle design by making the world itself the primary puzzle mechanic.
