Valheim players can now expand their inventory capacity as of the game's 1.0 release. Previously, the game's famously limited inventory, featuring only eight hotbar slots and 24 inventory slots, often became a bottleneck for resource gathering and exploration, especially with worn armor consuming additional space. The new updates introduce two purchasable inventory expansions.

Expanding Your Carry Capacity

These inventory upgrades are available from the NPC merchant Haldor, who can be found in the Black Forest biome. He offers two distinct upgrades: "Wider pockets," which grants an additional eight slots, and "Deeper pockets," which also adds eight slots. Each purchase increases the total available inventory space by eight, allowing for a cumulative addition of 16 extra slots. The "Wider pockets" upgrade costs 1000 coins, while "Deeper pockets" is priced at 2000 coins.

Locating Haldor

Finding Haldor can be a challenge for new players. He exclusively spawns within the Black Forest biome and his location is not marked on the map until players are within a few hundred meters, at which point a white bag icon will appear on the minimap. To ensure you are in the correct biome and a suitable distance from the map's center, players can utilize the "pos" console command to check their coordinates and distance from the world's origin. Alternatively, third-party tools like the Valheim World Generator may help pinpoint his location, though their reliability with the 1.0 version may vary until updated.

Haldor's coin reserves can be replenished by finding chests, exploring dungeons, and defeating enemies such as trolls and fulings. Players can also sell items like rubies, amber, and silver necklaces to Haldor to earn the necessary currency for these inventory upgrades.
