Valor Mortis Breaks Even in Seven Days Amidst Fierce Competition

Developer One More Level has announced that its recently released first-person Soulslike, Valor Mortis, has achieved profitability within its first seven days on the market. The studio, best known for the Ghostrunner series, shared the news on social media, expressing pride in the game's rapid financial success.

Breaking even signifies that Valor Mortis has recouped its production costs, with all subsequent sales expected to contribute to profit. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the highly competitive release period. The game launched amidst a historically busy schedule of new titles, with many major releases vying for attention in the months surrounding the launch of GTA 6.

Valor Mortis has been met with a positive reception, with Eurogamer's review praising its departure from typical Soulslike conventions. The game was noted for its fluid combat, engaging enemy encounters, exhilarating parkour mechanics, and strong sense of momentum, which contribute to its level design, boss fights, and blend of sword and gunplay. One More Level had previously acknowledged the challenging release window, pricing Valor Mortis at £40/$40 and strategically delaying its launch from its original September 24 date to avoid direct competition with other significant titles.

Valor Mortis is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass. When questioned about potential DLC and future updates, the developer responded that work is underway.
