First-person Soulslike Valor Mortis has been delayed from its original September 24 release date to October 13. Developer One More Level announced the shift, citing a significantly crowded September release window as the primary reason. The original September date was confirmed just four days prior during the 2026 Summer Xbox Games Showcase.
Several high-profile titles are slated for a September launch, including The Blood of Dawnwalker, Marvel's Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, among others. One More Level stated that while they anticipated a busy September, dates are often locked weeks in advance when participating in partner showcases. The delay aims to provide Valor Mortis, and consumers' wallets, more breathing room.
"Greetings Soldiers, September has become absolutely stacked with incredible looking games," the studio said in a statement. "We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe. Therefore, we've decided to move our release date to October 13."
The adjusted October 13 release date also grants the development team additional time to incorporate player feedback gathered from the recently released Steam demo. "In the meantime, we just launched our demo on Steam and have been getting loads of feedback. This new date also gives us even more time to improve the game. Try it out, let us know what you think, and we'll see you in October."
This September crunch is largely attributed to developers attempting to avoid the November 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto VI across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Valor Mortis is the first title to officially delay out of September due to this scheduling pressure, though it is likely that more will follow.
Valor Mortis is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 13. A hands-on preview by Game Informer has expressed excitement for the Soulslike title.
