The upcoming first-person soulslike Valor Mortis has revealed a star-studded voice cast, featuring Adam "Nergal" Darski, frontman for the black metal band Behemoth. Darski will lend his vocal talents to the role of Captain Raphael. This marks his return to voice acting, having previously voiced The Black Cat in 2022's Blacktail and served as narrator for Apocalipsis: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in 2018.
He joins an ensemble that includes Jennifer English, known for her work in Baldur's Gate 3 and Expedition 33, who will portray The Shrike. James Alexander, who provided voices for Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Crimson Desert, will play William Dowsett, the protagonist. The cast also features Vincent Cassel, recognized for his roles in Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen, as Napoleon Bonaparte. Mars Lipowski, a familiar voice from the Call of Duty franchise, will be Lucjan Skawinski, while Will De Renzy-Martin, who played Coen in The Blood of Dawnwalker, will portray James Stewart. Yvan Chamouiseau completes the announced cast as Louis Moreau.
Valor Mortis is developed by the studio behind Ghostrunner and is set in an alternate 19th-century Eastern Europe where Napoleon's ongoing wars have unleashed a supernatural plague. Players will step into the shoes of William, voiced by Alexander, fighting against former comrades transformed into undead horrors.
The game was originally scheduled for release on September 24 but has been delayed to October 13 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The developer cited the crowded release schedule in September as the reason for the postponement. Valor Mortis will launch at a price of $40.
