Vampire Survivors Developer Poncle Announces Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton

Poncle, the independent studio behind the roguelike bullet hell phenomenon Vampire Survivors, has announced a new game adaptation of the popular manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. Titled Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton, the game will feature players battling Cursed Spirits in a multiplayer format where only one survivor can emerge victorious. The announcement was made during the June Nintendo Direct showcase.

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton will pit up to eight players against each other online, with accumulated points determining victory. A key mechanic directly inspired by the Jujutsu Kaisen series' Culling Games arc will allow players to add rules once they reach 100 points, offering a strategic way to disrupt opponents' momentum. Boss encounters and unlockable characters are also confirmed features, with over 20 Jujutsu Kaisen characters slated to be included, each possessing unique abilities and playstyles.

The game is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo's Switch 2. The Jujutsu Kaisen anime, which follows Yuji Itadori as he becomes the vessel for the ancient sorcerer Ryomen Sukuna, has been a significant hit in recent years, lauded for its animation, soundtrack, and character development.

Alongside the Jujutsu Kaisen project, Poncle is also developing a new expansion for Vampire Survivors and a spin-off set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The studio also revealed the formation of Survivaton, a dedicated label for future "Survivors-like" projects, and the establishment of its Japan branch.
