Video Game Actors Discuss Their Standout Performances of 2026

For the first time, Polygon is hosting an actors' roundtable to discuss the year's most compelling video game performances, mirroring a tradition common in Hollywood. The initiative aims to give a platform to the artists behind memorable characters, a practice usually reserved for film actors.

This inaugural discussion features insights from performers in titles such as Resident Evil Requiem, Saros, Cairn, Star Wars: Zero Company, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Control: Resonant, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Pragmata. The conversations were compiled through virtual calls and meticulous editing, bridging geographical distances to bring together top talent.

Participants shared their experiences and approaches to their roles. Rahul Kohli, known for his work in Saros, discussed acting advice he received from Troy Baker. Nick Apostolides, who has portrayed Leon Kennedy in the Resident Evil series, and Shai Matheson, who offered a fresh perspective on the Caped Crusader, highlighted the nuanced approaches required for their characters. The dedication of these actors extends beyond vocal performance, with examples like Sophia Eleni, who voiced a mountain climber in Cairn and subsequently undertook her own climbing expedition. Grace Saif's performance as Diana was also noted for its transformative quality.

This roundtable is the first in a series of GOTY Talk videos planned by Polygon, with future installments set to explore other facets of game development, including writing, direction, action sequences, and RPG design. These discussions are being released in the lead-up to the 2026 Game Awards nominations.
