Eschatology Entertainment has revealed Guns of Eschaton, a fantasy Wild West soulslike shooter, which features the final game design contributions of the late art director Viktor Antonov. Antonov, whose distinctive visual style shaped iconic titles such as Half-Life 2, Dishonored, and Wolfenstein: The New Order, passed away in 2025 at the age of 52. His work on Guns of Eschaton was a project he was involved with prior to his death.

The game is set in a dark, reimagined 19th-century America, drawing inspiration from historical figures, legends, and archetypes of the Old West. Players will journey from the West Coast to the East Coast across a "dying America," encountering bizarre enemies and formidable bosses. The announcement trailer showcases glimpses of the game's aesthetic, featuring a rider on an infernal horse, hinting at the supernatural elements within the Western setting.

Combat in Guns of Eschaton will blend gunplay with soulslike mechanics. Success will hinge on parrying, dashing, strategic use of limited special ammunition, and exploiting enemy weaknesses. The game promises extensive character customization, offering a "vast arsenal of firearms, ammunition types, occult powers, talismans, armor, and consumables," alongside a variety of passive and active abilities. Full co-op multiplayer is also planned.

Fuad Kuliev, head of Eschatology Entertainment, expressed his honor in revealing Guns of Eschaton, emphasizing Antonov's integral role. "From the earliest stages of development, I had the privilege of shaping this world together with Viktor," Kuliev stated. "Viktor's imagination and creative legacy have been a constant source of inspiration throughout development, and this game is the result of an incredible collaborative effort from our entire team to bring that vision to life."

While the game's visuals and artistic direction are rooted in Antonov's vision, its overall success will depend on its core mechanics, particularly given the precision and timing required in soulslike titles. The game is currently available for wishlisting on Steam, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
