Viewers of the new Disney+ series "VisionQuest" believe they may have spotted another major Marvel Cinematic Universe character in the show's first episode. Paul Bettany returns as The Vision in his standalone series, which premiered its first two episodes earlier this week. Alongside AI constructs like Jarvis and Ultron, some fans are speculating that a significant character from the "WandaVision" series has made an appearance.
The character in question is believed to be Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan, son of Wanda and Vision. Played by Joe Locke in "Agatha All Along," eagle-eyed viewers suggest Billy made his first appearance in the final moments of "VisionQuest's" debut episode. This potential cameo is described as a subtle Easter egg rather than an overt reveal.
Following the setup of White Vision's identity crisis, the first episode introduces another new character: Tommy, Wanda and Vision's other child, who appears to be alive and inhabiting another human body. Unlike his brother, Tommy is depicted living as a pickpocket in London.
According to fan theories, Billy is aware of his brother's whereabouts. Near the episode's conclusion, after Tommy completes a small theft, a figure with a familiar haircut is seen in the background crowd. This same figure reappears later when Tommy meets with an accomplice, Lisa. Fans are debating whether this is a minor continuity error or a deliberate foreshadowing of Wiccan's return.
Speculation about Wiccan's involvement in "VisionQuest" intensified prior to the series premiere. The show, airing before "Avengers: Doomsday" concludes the Multiverse Saga, offers an opportunity to reunite the Maximoff family. Additionally, a trailer and an interview with Tommy's actor, Ruaridh Mollica, have fueled these theories. Mollica stated that he and Locke filmed scenes together for "VisionQuest" before working on a play, noting their immediate friendship and shared excitement.
While the mysterious figure in Episode 1 has yet to be officially confirmed as Wiccan, the evidence suggests his presence. "VisionQuest" episodes will continue to be released weekly, with the finale scheduled for November 10. The series serves as a potential bridge for reuniting a powerful Marvel family as the Multiverse Saga draws to a close.
