Walmart Offers 48-Hour Window to Rectify Canceled Zelda Switch 2 Pre-Orders

Walmart is providing customers whose Legend of Zelda Switch 2 console pre-orders were unexpectedly canceled with a 48-hour window to re-secure their purchase. The retailer has begun sending emails to affected customers, stating that the cancellations were made in error. These emails also inform recipients that an "Exclusive Reservation" for the console has been added to their cart.

To complete the re-order, customers must proceed to checkout within the specified 48-hour timeframe. As a gesture of apology for the inconvenience, Walmart is also issuing a $519 eGift card to those impacted. This amount matches the original price of the console, effectively making the replacement unit free for affected customers.

The issues surrounding the pre-orders arose shortly before the consoles were scheduled to arrive. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2 is slated for release on November 5, and this compensation aims to ensure customers can receive their consoles in time for the game's launch.
