Warcraft 3 has received its first official new campaign in over two decades with the surprise release of Forsaken Kingdom for Warcraft 3: Reforged. The new content, which debuted at BlizzCon 2026, is a two-part campaign that delves into the Undercity and features characters like Sylvanas, alongside a new neutral hero unit, the Forsaken Paladin.

According to Blizzard, Forsaken Kingdom is designed to offer upwards of thirty hours of gameplay and continues the Warcraft universe's storytelling beyond World of Warcraft and Hearthstone. The narrative is set to lay the groundwork for future World of Warcraft developments.

The last official campaign for Warcraft 3 was The Frozen Throne expansion, released 23 years ago. Since then, the franchise has seen a failed mobile game, remasters of earlier titles, and the much-criticized Warcraft 3: Reforged remake.

Forsaken Kingdom arrives alongside a significant free update for Warcraft 3: Reforged. This update addresses persistent bugs, enhances the world editor for map creators, and introduces a new definitive edition graphics mode. Additionally, players can now select up to 24 units simultaneously, indicating Blizzard's effort to improve the maligned remake.

Warcraft 3: Reforged launched in January 2020 with considerable disappointment. Initially presented as an ambitious reimagining, the game was criticized for its downgraded visuals, numerous bugs, restricted player ownership of custom maps, and the absence of promised narrative content.

For players who held off on purchasing Reforged due to its initial reception, the latest updates and the addition of Forsaken Kingdom may present an opportune moment to engage with the title. Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3: Reforged are currently available for Windows PC, with options to purchase a bundle including the original game and the new campaign, or Forsaken Kingdom as a standalone product.
