A supposed roadmap for Blizzard's Warcraft franchise, first leaked nearly a year ago, is gaining traction following a recent datamine that appears to confirm the existence of a project codenamed "Camelot." The original leak, posted on Reddit in August 2025 by user 5thyatch and later highlighted by Warcraft content creator Bellular, allegedly outlined release windows for future World of Warcraft expansions, two unannounced games, and even two television shows up to 2030. It also pointed to the release of "Camelot" for WoW Classic by the end of 2025. While the original Reddit account and posts have since been removed, the leak has resurfaced, with fans drawing parallels to recent findings on Blizzard's internal servers. Wowhead reported evidence of Heroic and Epic editions of "World of Warcraft Camelot" being present on these servers, suggesting the project is real. Many speculate that Camelot could be the long-rumored "Classic+" iteration of WoW Classic, which would involve Blizzard introducing new content to the original "Vanilla" version of the game without advancing to later expansion eras. Blizzard previously hinted at a significant Classic announcement for BlizzCon 2026, and the leak's timeline aligns with a potential reveal shortly after that event. If Camelot proves to be a genuine project, the broader implications of the leak also gain credibility. The document accurately predicted the release window for the upcoming WoW expansion, Midnight, before its official announcement. It also slated the subsequent expansion, The Last Titan, for late 2027. Beyond World of Warcraft, the leak indicates a new real-time strategy (RTS) game, tentatively titled "Warcraft Chronicles," is scheduled for release in late 2028. This would mark the first new Warcraft RTS title since Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003. Furthermore, an action role-playing game (ARPG) centered on the character Arthas is reportedly due in late 2029. The exact nature of this ARPG remains unclear, with possibilities ranging from a Diablo-style top-down perspective to a character-action game focusing on the Lich King. The leak also detailed potential tie-in television shows for both "Warcraft Chronicles" and the Arthas ARPG. Initially, the idea of Blizzard developing multiple television series—one animated and one live-action, according to the leak—seemed unlikely. However, Blizzard has since begun to signal a broader vision for the Warcraft IP. In February, Blizzard vice president and executive producer Holly Longdale stated that the Warcraft IP is "underutilized" and that the company has "a bigger vision" for it "than simply being an MMORPG." Around the same time, Blizzard president Johanna Faries mentioned that "exciting conversations" were underway regarding Hollywood adaptations of Blizzard's intellectual property. It is important to consider that even if the leak accurately reflects past plans, Blizzard's internal development landscape can shift. The alleged internal document may not represent current development strategies. Projects like the new Warcraft RTS or the Arthas spin-off could have been canceled, given Blizzard's historical practice of canceling a significant percentage of its projects. The potential impact of upcoming layoffs at Blizzard's parent company, Xbox, also introduces uncertainty. Xbox president Asha Sharma has indicated a focus on "industry-defining franchises" that may have been "inadequately funded" in the past, and it remains to be seen if Warcraft will be prioritized within this strategy.
