Wardogs' second season, launching next week, will introduce a new feature allowing players to wager on their own in-game performance. This new gambling mechanic, available through a dedicated wager vendor, lets players raise the stakes on their actions and conditions each time they respawn within the game's cash-based economy. Players can construct a "slip" by selecting intended actions and accepting specific conditions, which will increase potential payouts but result in a failed wager if broken. A live wager tracker will be visible on the HUD, displaying the current stake and progress.
Bulkhead, the developer, has described this as an initial implementation of an experimental feature that may be expanded upon or adjusted throughout the season based on player feedback and exploitability. This update also addresses the long-documented underperformance of the blue team, Lonestar, by providing it with a cash and XP win bonus, alongside teamplay action multipliers. To further improve the blue team's visibility and appeal, their uniforms will be desaturated. Additionally, on the Bakurani map, all faction spawns have been relocated, and routes to control zones have been redesigned. To assist losing teams generally, any team that is at least 40 points behind second place will receive a 20% vendor discount.
Restrictions are also being placed on team switching to prevent abuse. Players will be unable to switch teams for 15 minutes after joining a team if that team is more than 10 points ahead. When switching teams or joining a mid-match, the map will remain obscured until the player reaches a control zone, and the spawn vehicle will be unusable until that first control zone is reached.
Season 2 will also implement a new weather system featuring rain, with heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder that can mask in-game sounds. The update includes four new weapons, four new vehicles, three new buildables, and Molotov cocktails.
Several balance changes are also part of the season 2 update. Level four armor and helmets will now reduce damage by 60% instead of 65%. The super heavy helmet will now feature muffled audio, a restricted field of view, and will fog over when sprinting. High-caliber rounds are seeing reduced base damage, with .50 cal decreasing by 16% and .308 Winchester by 25%. The scout rifle has been buffed, enabling one-shot headshot kills on targets with level one helmets. Parachutes have been nerfed with a longer deployment time, raising the minimum deployment height, and the price of a basic parachute has increased to $500. Finally, drills will now be active for a shorter duration and cost more fuel to activate, aimed at curbing "multi drill rig builds."
