Warframe is set to receive a substantial rework for one of its oldest playable characters, the sound-based Warframe Banshee. Announced at TennoCon 2026, the update is part of the upcoming fall release, titled Iceblade of Narin. This overhaul aims to modernize Banshee's abilities, bringing her kit more in line with the game's continuously evolving mechanics and the introduction of newer, more complex Warframes.

Banshee, originally released in Warframe's debut year of 2013, currently focuses on crowd control, utilizing sonic powers to push, stagger, and stun enemies. Her kit also includes a debuff that highlights enemy weak spots. While this crowd control focus was once a dominant strategy, the game's progression has introduced numerous other Warframes with equally, if not more, potent crowd control and area-of-effect abilities. Furthermore, new mods have been added that enhance weak-point damage and prioritize area damage, shifting the meta.

According to Warframe creative director Rebecca Ford, the rework's thesis is to "reward accuracy" by integrating Banshee's original crowd control capabilities with modern damage scaling. Community director Megan Everett noted that Banshee has been a consistent request from the player base for a significant update.

"For a good amount of time now, the actual community has been like, 'Please, Banshee, please,'" Everett stated. The developer confirmed that the demand for a Banshee rework has been ongoing, even noted at recent events like Anime Expo.

The Iceblade of Narin update will also feature Deluxe skins for Banshee and Qorvex, introduce a new ice-themed Warframe, and include Citrine Prime. The rework for Banshee is expected to be available in the fall of 2026.
