Owlcat Games is set to conclude its three-year run of expansions for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader with the upcoming DLC, Processional of the Damned, scheduled for release this December. Similar to previous expansions, this new content will weave a fresh storyline and introduce a new companion into the existing game narrative, rather than taking place after the campaign's conclusion.
The central new addition is the companion Stella, a seemingly frail but psychically powerful individual known as a "miraclist." Raised by the Ecclesiarchy, Stella is an unsanctioned psyker who is revered by her order as a divine miracle. Her unstable powers manifest violently, causing her to shed tears of blood and her skin to crack. In combat, she unleashes devastating psychic flares that deal area-of-effect damage. Despite potential for some control, the inherent dangers of warp influence mean Stella will always face peril and madness.
Despite her volatile nature, Stella may find a place among Rogue Trader's already eccentric cast, which includes a psychotic alien, a blood-obsessed assassin, and a figure akin to Judge Dredd.
Processional of the Damned will also introduce the Zealot archetype, allowing players to create a character focused on brutal melee combat. Owlcat has additionally teased a new "madness" mechanic that will impact all companions, as well as new enemies and equipment.
Following an initial challenging launch, Rogue Trader has evolved into one of Owlcat's most acclaimed CRPGs. The studio is also working on Warhammer 40k: Dark Heresy, slated for a "coming soon" release, and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a project described as distinct from Owlcat's typical RPG fare.
