Tactical is the most popular class in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's PvE Operations, according to data released by publisher Focus Entertainment to celebrate the game's two-year anniversary. The Tactical class was picked 44.4 million times over the past year.
Following Tactical in popularity are Bulwark, Assault, Heavy, Vanguard, and Techmarine, in descending order. The Sniper class, though absent from the initial infographic provided by Focus, was revealed to be picked 20 million times, placing it just behind the Techmarine.
While Bulwark's high ranking is attributed to its supportive role in keeping squads alive and its inherent coolness, Tactical's top position is explained by its access to powerful weaponry like melta guns and the Pyreblaster, as well as its game-changing signature ability, Auspex Scan. This ability reveals and debuffs enemies in a targeted area, proving essential for higher difficulty levels and high-level group play.
The data shows the following class pick counts:
- Tactical: 44.4 million
- Bulwark: 40.1 million
- Assault: 33.3 million
- Heavy: 30.4 million
- Vanguard: 27.4 million
- Techmarine: 22.3 million
- Sniper: 20 million
Despite the popularity differences, the developer believes each class is viable across most difficulty settings. The upcoming inclusion of the Apothecary class in early 2027 is expected to potentially shift these rankings. Separately, developer Saber has acknowledged that Chaos enemies are proving more challenging than Tyranids and plans to address this.
