Focus Entertainment has unveiled the Year 3 roadmap for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, confirming the long-speculated Apothecary class will join the game in early 2027. This addition was widely anticipated by the community, with many correctly guessing its role as a heavy-duty support class potentially featuring unique Gene-seed harvesting mechanics.
The publisher acknowledged the community's extensive theories regarding the new class, stating, "We’ve been following all your speculations ever since we teased the arrival of a new class, and you certainly had plenty of theories… and the majority of you were right!" The Apothecary is slated to arrive with Patch 17 in the first quarter of 2027, and will receive a Champion skin in the subsequent update, similar to the Techmarine.
Beyond the new class, the roadmap details upcoming content for 2026. Patch 15, launching October 1, will introduce the Chaos Siege mode, allowing players to control Heretic Astartes characters previously exclusive to PvP, alongside the One-Handed Thunder Hammer. Before the end of 2026, Patch 16 will add a new PvP mode featuring Weekly Stratagems, mirroring the PvE system.
2027 will also bring new Operations and weapons, along with "reworks to several gameplay features, with improvements coming to some of the game’s core systems," according to Focus Entertainment. The publisher also teased additional unlisted features, including a significant expansion to customization options, stated to increase options by 33%, and a feature that will challenge the game's streaming technology.
Year 3 DLC plans include five new Cosmetic and Champion Packs, with the final pack's contents currently redacted. Meanwhile, developer Saber Interactive is also working on Space Marine 3, though no release window has been provided. Space Marine 2 has seen considerable success since its 2024 launch, attracting over 12 million players.
