The upcoming overhaul of Games Workshop's Warhammer Blood Bowl video game, titled Warhammer Blood Bowl, is slated for release in Fall 2026 across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The game is being developed by Cyanide, the original studio behind Blood Bowl 3, and is being published by Slitherine, which recently acquired the Warhammer Blood Bowl license and back catalog from Nacon.

Slitherine has shared new screenshots showcasing the game, which will implement the latest official tabletop ruleset, updated through September 2025 and known as the Third Season Edition. The roster will be expanded to include the Bretonnians and Khemri Tomb Kings factions.

Marco Alessandro Minoli, Director of Publishing at Slitherine, expressed the company's commitment to the franchise, stating, "At Slitherine, we're strategy gamers first and foremost, and Blood Bowl has always been one of our favorite tabletop games." He added, "Our goal with Warhammer Blood Bowl is simple: we want this to become the definitive Blood Bowl video game — not just at launch, but for years to come." Slitherine plans to support and expand the game over time, aiming for a living, evolving experience, similar to their work on other Warhammer titles like Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector and Warhammer 40,000: Gladius.

A significant aspect of the relaunch is that all existing owners of Blood Bowl 3 on PC and consoles will receive Warhammer Blood Bowl as a free upgrade. This includes retaining any previously purchased teams and cosmetic items. Prior to the full release, a playable demo is scheduled for the end of the summer on PC. This demo will feature Rumble Mode, a new 7-player format designed for faster matches.

Blood Bowl 3 has faced criticism, holding a 'mixed' user review rating on Steam and reportedly falling short of player expectations since its 2023 launch. An earlier review noted the game as "a sloppy, muddy, buggy rehash of a better game."
