Developer WayForward may be working on a spin-off title for CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk franchise, according to a report from MP1st. The project, codenamed Gemini, was allegedly in research and development from 2025 into this year.

The game is described as a "rollback-driven" 2.5D beat-'em-up, with details from a former WayForward employee's portfolio also indicating "rollback-safe architecture" and "online transport integration." These features strongly suggest an online multiplayer component for the spin-off.

While the current status of Project Gemini is unclear, MP1st also noted that WayForward had an unannounced Unreal Engine 5 title in development on a licensed franchise last year, though this project was reportedly halted in September 2025.

WayForward has a notable history with licensed games and the brawler genre, having developed titles such as River City Girls. The studio is also well-known for the Shantae series and handled Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for the Nintendo Switch. Other credits include Contra 4 and The Mummy Demastered.

This potential spin-off comes as CD Projekt Red continues work on Cyberpunk 2 and as the second season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is slated for release this fall on Netflix. CD Projekt Red recently rebranded from CD Projekt.
