White Wolf is planning to release new editions of Mage: The Ascension, Changeling: The Dreaming, and Vampire: The Dark Ages, following the upcoming launch of Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition. These titles represent a strategic revival of underserved World of Darkness games, according to creative director Jess Lanzillo.
During a panel at Gen Con 2026, Lanzillo revealed these plans, indicating that the new editions would incorporate and build upon the systems introduced in the latest iteration of Vampire: The Masquerade. While details are scarce, the revival aims to reintroduce these fan-favorite titles to a new audience and existing players.
Mage: The Ascension focuses on spellcasting within the shared supernatural universe of the World of Darkness, while Changeling: The Dreaming follows fae beings reborn into human bodies. Vampire: The Dark Ages delves into the medieval history of Vampire: The Masquerade's established clans. These particular games have seen fewer editions and long gaps between updates compared to other World of Darkness titles.
Lanzillo stated that the selection of these three games was driven by personal passion and the need to support titles that have been relatively dormant. "These are all of my favorite games in the whole world," she commented during the panel.
Fans of Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Hunter: The Reckoning may note their absence from the immediate roadmap. Lanzillo explained that these games currently have well-supported fifth editions, leading White Wolf to prioritize other titles first. The status of potential new editions for Wraith: The Oblivion, Mummy: The Resurrection, and Demon: The Fallen remains unannounced.
While a release date for Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition has not been set, White Wolf aims to publish a core book annually once the new edition releases begin. This suggests a potentially steady cadence for future World of Darkness game updates.
