Wizards of the Coast Confirms Reprint for Popular Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40K Commander Decks

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed to IGN that a new, small reprint run of the Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40,000 Commander Decks is underway. These decks, part of the Universes Beyond series and initially released in 2022, have become difficult to acquire and command high prices on the secondary market.

The confirmation follows reports from game stores indicating that the Warhammer 40K precon decks were available for order through their usual channels. A spokesperson for Wizards of the Coast stated that the reprint will be available to distributors and stores soon, with regional availability varying.

The four original decks—Ruinous Powers (Chaos), Tyranid Swarm (Tyranids), Necron Dynasty (mono-black), and Forces of the Imperium (Imperial)—each represent a distinct faction from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe. These preconstructed decks marked a significant entry for Magic: The Gathering into crossovers beyond its own established lore.

While there are no current plans to create in-universe Magic versions of the cards exclusive to these decks, as had been previously stated by Magic's head designer Mark Rosewater, this reprint should make them more accessible. The additional copies entering the market may also help to alleviate the current high resale values.

It remains unconfirmed whether the all-foil Collector's Edition versions of the decks will also be part of this reprint. The pricing for the new print run has also not been announced, though the original MSRP was $59.99. This news comes as other Warhammer 40,000 related media, including Dawn of War IV and Total War: Warhammer 40K, are also generating attention.
