Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Demo Available Now, Full Release Set for March 2027

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have announced that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, the next installment in their dark fantasy action-RPG series, will launch worldwide on March 4, 2027. To coincide with this announcement, the developers have also released a substantial free demo, offering players an early look at the game.

The demo includes an in-progress character creation system and online multiplayer for up to three players. It features the "open field of Changban," a full level that allows players to join Liu Bei's forces in battles against Cao Cao's armies and encounter demons inspired by Chinese mythology. Completing the demo will reward players with an in-game Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for the full game, a common bonus for fans of Team Ninja's previous titles. A post-demo survey is also available to provide feedback.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is slated for release on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Xbox. The demo is accessible on all these platforms, and the full game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from launch.

A new trailer has been released, offering an overview of the game's story, characters, and gameplay mechanics. The narrative shifts from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Three Kingdoms era, with the demo focusing on Liu Bei's conflict with Cao Cao and the Wei Dynasty.

According to a press release, the game is set in China in 208 AD, following the events of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The protagonist's village and friend Pang Tong are attacked by Cao Cao's forces, leading to a war where demons roam freely. Seeking revenge, the protagonist aids Liu Bei against Cao Cao, later joining Sun Quan to devise a plan to repel Cao Cao's advance towards the Red Cliffs.

Wo Long 2 promises an enhanced combat system building on the fast-paced action of its predecessor. Players will utilize Insight Skills to evade attacks, leverage the terrain for counterattacks, and turn the tide in outnumbered situations, leading to more dynamic and challenging combat.

A playable demo was available at Gamescom, which provided a glimpse into how the sequel incorporates Team Ninja's learnings from franchises like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive.
