PlayStation will launch a collection of limited-edition hardware themed around Marvel's Wolverine on September 15, the same day the highly anticipated game is released. The offerings include a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition bundle, DualSense wireless controllers, and customizable console covers.
The PS5 Digital Edition bundle will include a copy of Marvel's Wolverine and feature a design inspired by the character's iconic claws, with artwork of Wolverine's face on the console itself. Complementing the console, limited-edition DualSense controllers and console covers will also be available. The console covers can be swapped with the standard plates on existing PS5 consoles. These accessories will come in a "Battle Yellow," a design featuring Wolverine's claws, and an "Adamantium" colorway, which swaps yellow accents for silver. While the Battle Yellow covers are available for both the standard PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro, the Adamantium colorway is exclusive to the PS5 Pro console covers. Both Battle Yellow and Adamantium controllers will be offered.
Pricing for the new hardware is as follows:
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle: $649.99 US / £569.99 GBP / €649.99 EUR / ¥96,980 JPY DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition: $84.99 US / £74.99 GBP / €84.99 EUR / ¥12,480 JPY PlayStation 5 Console Covers – Battle Yellow Limited Edition: $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP / €74.99 EUR / ¥9,980 JPY PlayStation 5 Pro Console Covers – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition: $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP / €74.99 EUR / ¥9,980 JPY PlayStation 5 Pro Console Covers – Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium Limited Edition: $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP / €74.99 EUR DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium Limited Edition: $84.99 US / £74.99 GBP / €84.99 EUR
The bundle and the Battle Yellow controller will be available through select retailers. However, the console covers and the Adamantium controller are exclusive to PlayStation's online store. These new releases follow recent price increases for PlayStation hardware and accessories, which have occurred twice in the past year.
The bundle's PS5 Digital Edition notably lacks a disc drive, a point that has drawn criticism from some fans amidst Sony's stated plans to phase out physical disc releases starting in 2028. This decision has been a point of contention in online discussions related to PlayStation's hardware strategy.
