Amazon-owned retailer Woot is currently offering significant discounts on popular Sonic titles, including Sonic x Shadow Generations for just $1, specifically for new customers. This promotion requires customers to be new to Woot and have an Amazon Prime membership for free delivery; otherwise, shipping incurs a $5.99 fee.
Customers purchasing Sonic x Shadow Generations on Xbox can secure the game for $1 with no additional upgrade fees. The game is also available on Nintendo Switch for $10.99, with an option for a $10 upgrade to the Switch 2 version, effectively doubling the initial cost. Even without the HELLOTEN promo code, the Switch versions are considered a good deal at $10.99 and $17.99 respectively, though not as compelling as the discounted price for new customers.
IGN reviews lauded both titles. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds received a 9/10, praised for its "fantastic roster of 24" characters, well-designed tracks, and a "generationally great soundtrack." The gameplay was described as "fast, fantastic, and intuitive," with numerous modes and customization options. The reviewer also noted a desire for a split-screen option when playing online, alongside appreciation for the "awesome" Crossworld mechanic.
Sonic x Shadow Generations also earned a 9/10, with IGN highlighting its "creative level design, fantastic bosses, plenty of collectibles, and an appreciable graphical upgrade." The added Shadow content was noted as providing a "nice change of pace" and a new story integrated into the overworld. IGN concluded that this "bulked-up remaster soars far and above previous enhanced versions" in the Sonic franchise.
