Blizzard has announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a new game mode that reimagines the game's earliest days, at the end of BlizzCon's opening ceremonies. Developed by the Classic team, this "Classic+" experience aims to capture the spirit of the original World of Warcraft while introducing new content and mechanics.
The game is set within the first year of World of Warcraft's original release, with a level cap of 60. A cinematic trailer showcased a journey beginning with the iconic dwarf hunter from the original trailer, leading to the previously inaccessible city of Dalaran. The narrative hints at dark secrets within the city and explores other locations like the World Tree Nordrassil, which also was not accessible in the original Vanilla WoW. The reveal also featured a new sky kingdom inhabited by a new type of elf.
World of Warcraft: Forever plans to offer a continuous stream of new adventures within this original timeframe. At launch, players can expect three entirely new zones, several revamped older zones, over 1,000 new quests, a new battleground, nine new dungeons, and two new raids. A new playable race, the Skyborne Elves, will also be introduced. The update extends to new reputations, new pets, and updated world visuals.
Attendees at BlizzCon will have the opportunity to play World of Warcraft: Forever on the show floor, with a beta scheduled to launch this coming Thursday. The full release is slated for November 4, 2026.
