The beta for World of Warcraft: Forever received a substantial update, introducing several key changes that significantly alter the player experience. The maximum level attainable in the beta has been increased from 20 to 30, opening up more zones for exploration and questing.
Accompanying the level cap increase are new instanced dungeons. Excavation Site: Wetlands, designed for players level 26 and above, is now accessible. This addition joins the previously opened Razorfen Downs (level 25+) and Uldaman (level 30+), bringing the total number of unlocked new dungeons to three out of the promised nine. Hall of Thanes (13+) and Ruins of Lordaeron (15+) were already available.
The update also reintroduces the Mulgore questline, "Kyle's Gone Missing!" This quest, originally created in 2007 with the participation of a Make-A-Wish recipient, Ezra Chatterton, who also provided voice acting, has been integrated into Forever.
A more contentious change involves a reduction in experience points awarded from dungeon quests. Developers stated that "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values" as part of ongoing discussions about leveling speed. This adjustment has drawn mixed reactions from the player base, with some expressing concern that it diminishes the appeal of dungeons due to the effort required to form groups, while others feel players are simply too impatient to reach the maximum level.
Finally, the update includes a peculiar bug fix: the removal of unintentional hats from child characters, including Anduin Wrynn. The developers noted that "Children have hats" and are in the process of removing them, humorously describing the effort as difficult due to the characters "giggling and running away."
