World of Warcraft: Forever Beta to Offer Limited Free Stress Test Next Week

Players looking to experience World of Warcraft: Forever without purchasing beta access will have a limited opportunity next week. Blizzard has announced a free stress test for the upcoming classic-era MMORPG, scheduled to begin on October 19 at 2 PM PT/ 5 PM ET. This event requires neither a World of Warcraft subscription nor prior beta access, serving as a critical server load test ahead of the game's launch.

To participate, players will need the Battle.net launcher installed and an account. After selecting WoW: Forever from the game list, the stress test can be installed via the "Game Version" dropdown menu. Blizzard has indicated the test will run for only "a few hours," though the exact duration may vary as needed. The closed beta will be temporarily offline during the stress test and will resume afterward.

Any characters created during the stress test will be deleted upon its conclusion. This free test offers a chance for interested players to sample WoW: Forever before its official beta concludes on October 21. Following the beta's end, early name reservations will open on October 27, with the full game launching on November 4.

The beta period for WoW: Forever has reportedly seen significant player interest, with developers noting record-breaking numbers that suggest a potentially massive launch. However, the beta has also been accompanied by community controversies. Blizzard has been actively combating illicit gold-buying practices with new in-game restrictions and warnings. Additionally, a prominent streamer's attempt to form an exceptionally large guild and dominate the game's sole PvP server has reportedly caused friction with other players.

Blizzard has stated its intention to "push the envelope" with player expectations for WoW: Forever, according to a recent interview with GameSpot.
