World of Warcraft Forever has officially launched, opening its alternate version of Azeroth to players. The highly anticipated release, which saw "the craziest numbers" during its beta according to developers, immediately presented players with login queues and temporary issues with 'Rulesets' being unavailable. BlizzardCS acknowledged the 'Ruleset' problem and reported it to the development team, aiming for a swift resolution.
Players experienced varied wait times in login queues, with some reporting hundreds of users ahead of them. One user noted that the forums were also temporarily down. Despite these initial hurdles, the sentiment among some players was one of nostalgia for the classic launch experience, with one Twitter user expressing, "Is it wrong that I kinda like launches like this?"
Ahead of the launch, the community saw some disruption. The patch notes released Monday night led to the Shaman class Discord server shutting down in protest of changes, mirroring a similar reaction from Ret Paladins with a previous expansion. The first legendary weapon revealed for World of Warcraft Forever is Taldramir, The Whispering Wood, a healing weapon developed in partnership with Weta Workshop.
Developers had previously stated that the beta's level cap was set at 30, and access often required purchasing an expensive Skyborne pack. Post-launch, the primary requirement to play WoW Forever is an active WoW subscription or a friend code. The launch day has also seen a reminder for players with Nvidia graphics cards to update their drivers before diving into the game.
