Blizzard Entertainment is offering a free opportunity for World of Warcraft account holders to experience World of Warcraft: Forever through a server stress test occurring today. This event precedes the full launch of the expansion next month, aiming to identify and address potential server stability issues.
The "WoW: Forever - Stress Test" client will be available in the Battle.net launcher for anyone with a World of Warcraft account. No active subscription or special edition purchase is required to participate. Blizzard has taken the regular beta servers offline during the stress test period.
During the stress test, players will start with a fresh character, allowing them to experience the initial leveling zones and encounter the challenges of a crowded game world. This includes high player population density and rapid respawns of quest enemies, simulating the conditions expected on launch day.
The stress test is scheduled to run during specific windows across different time zones:
- West Coast US: 2 pm - 6 pm PDT
- East Coast US: 5 pm - 9 pm EDT
- UK: 6 pm - 2 am BST
- Europe: 7 pm - 3 am CEST
- Australia: 8 am - 12 pm AEDT
- New Zealand: 10 am - 2 pm NZDT
Following the stress test, the regular beta servers will be reactivated until Friday. Blizzard hopes this testing phase will contribute to a smoother launch experience, mitigating issues such as long queue times and server instability that were observed during the initial beta launch.
