Despite World of Warcraft Forever's design philosophy emphasizing exploration and a slower pace, a player has already reached the level cap. Team JokerD, spearheaded by the streamer JokerD, was the first group of characters to achieve level 60. The team comprised exclusively Undead characters, with one Troll.
The Undead race proved advantageous due to an adjusted Cannibalize ability that regenerates mana, significantly reducing downtime between large groups of enemies. Observers noted the team utilizing AoE abilities to quickly defeat these gathered mobs. JokerD previously secured the world-first Level 60 during the original World of Warcraft Classic launch in 2019, making this achievement in Forever a repeat of past success.
Competition was present, but JokerD's team maintained a substantial lead throughout the race. As of the report, the next closest competitor not affiliated with JokerD's team was at level 53.
However, reaching the maximum level so early may offer limited immediate rewards. The first raid instances, including Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair, are not scheduled to open until December 9. Players who have already hit level 60 might find themselves with little to do until then.
Kris Zierhut, principal game designer for WoW Forever, previously stated in an interview that the game is intended for players to level multiple characters, with the leveling process itself being a core component of the experience. For those who reach level 60 quickly and exhaust available content before raid openings, starting a new character with a different progression path is suggested.
The launch of WoW Forever was notably smooth, with minimal server issues. This stability may be attributed to Blizzard's reported infrastructure, which utilized over 200 terabytes of RAM to support the game's launch.
