Blizzard has officially confirmed the development of World of Warcraft: Forever, a long-rumored experience that reimagines the game as a "Classic+" offering. The new version is set to launch globally on November 4, with beta access available starting September 17 for those who have pre-purchased upgrade packs.
World of Warcraft: Forever is positioned as a distinct, permanent home for players alongside the existing Modern and Classic versions of the game, rather than a replacement. The experience will be set within a specific period of Warcraft lore, taking place after the new Forsaken Kingdom campaign and preceding the original Molten Core raid. Players will return to the game's original continents with a level cap set at 60.
At launch, World of Warcraft: Forever will introduce three new zones. The game will also feature over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, and two new raids designed for both 10 and 20-player groups. Additionally, players can expect new races and classes, including a brand-new playable race known as the Skyborne.
Access to World of Warcraft: Forever is included with an existing World of Warcraft subscription, meaning no separate purchase is necessary for the base experience. However, optional upgrade packs are available for separate purchase. These include the Skyborne Heroic Pack, which grants early access to the Skyborne race and its starting zone, and the more premium Skyborne Epic Pack, which provides beta access, a month of Game Time, and exclusive cosmetic items.
This announcement was made during BlizzCon's opening ceremony. Senior game director Ion Hazzikostas, lead Classic designer Tim Jones, lead software engineer Nora Mills, and associate production director Clay Stone provided further details on the new regions, systems, and the design philosophy underpinning World of Warcraft: Forever during a dedicated panel.
