Blizzard Entertainment has released "Warpath," a new animated music video designed to amp up excitement for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Forever expansion. The video, a collaboration with Brunch Studio, showcases a vibrant conflict between the Horde and Alliance set against the backdrop of Mount Hyjal, a new zone in the expansion.
The track "End of You" is performed by a notable lineup: YouTuber-turned-musician Poppy, Evanescence's Amy Lee, and Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante. Its nu-metal sound is intended to evoke the early 2000s era when World of Warcraft originally launched.
The "Warpath" video depicts iconic characters from both factions. The Horde is represented by an orc Rogue, tauren Hunter, undead Paladin, and troll Mage, while the Alliance features a human Warrior, gnome Warlock, dwarf Shaman, night elf Priest, and the newly introduced Skyborne elf Druid. These characters are shown in their distinctive endgame dungeon armor, wielding recognizable weapons such as Unstoppable Force and Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge.
This is not the first collaboration between Blizzard and Brunch Studio on an animated music video. Earlier this year, "A Place To Call Home," performed by Aurora, was released in anticipation of the modern World of Warcraft expansion, Midnight.
Alongside the hype-building content, Blizzard continues to make adjustments to World of Warcraft: Forever. Recent announcements include final adjustments to racial abilities before launch, the addition of another PvP server option, and significant improvements to the game's controversial layering system. In a recent interview with GameSpot, developers detailed their approach to the endgame content and the future of this iteration of the long-standing MMORPG.
World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch on November 4. Character creation and name reservations for players who purchase the optional Skyborne elf race will become available on October 27.
