Blizzard offered a first look at the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, The Last Titan, during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony. This new expansion will return players to the continent of Northrend, a location first explored in the 2008 Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Northrend will be completely rebuilt for The Last Titan, similar to how Blizzard updated Silvermoon City and Quel'thalas in the current Midnight expansion.
The reveal was accompanied by a cinematic trailer that highlighted the immediate threat posed by Xal'atath, the primary antagonist of the current expansion. Her ultimate goal, as shown in an in-game cinematic during the ceremony, is to merge with Azeroth's worldsoul, a move that would render her unstoppable.
While a cinematic and setting were shared, details about The Last Titan itself remain sparse. Blizzard indicated that more information will be disclosed next year. This expansion is the third and final installment of the overarching Worldsoul Saga, a trilogy announced at BlizzCon 2023. The saga aims to conclude many of World of Warcraft's storylines that have been developing over the past two decades, weaving together narratives concerning the Void, the Titans, and Azeroth.
Before players venture into Northrend with The Last Titan, Blizzard plans to deliver the final content update for the Midnight expansion, titled Eclipse. This update will feature a climactic confrontation with Xal'atath. Additionally, Blizzard teased the arrival of a new standalone game mode and another Remix experience for Midnight before the expansion concludes.
