Blizzard has revealed the next major expansion for World of Warcraft, titled "The Last Titan," with a planned release in 2027. The announcement, made at BlizzCon, included a brief cinematic teaser that hinted at the expansion's scope, though details remain scarce.
Most of the game's presentation at BlizzCon focused on the current expansion's finale, "Midnight." The final major patch for "Midnight," designated as patch 12.2 "Eclipse," will see players confront the void harbinger Xal'atath. A cinematic shown at the event depicted Xal'atath opening a path to Azeroth's World Soul and unleashing her void armies.
Game director Ion Hazzikostas stated that while much about "The Last Titan" could not be shown yet, the conclusion of "Eclipse" will set the stage for a climactic event that will bring a 20-year story arc to a close. The teaser for "The Last Titan" showcased a snowy Northrend region, specifically the Wyrmrest Temple, under assault by a large, dark entity before firing a beam of energy. More information is expected in early next year, following the resolution of the "Eclipse" patch.
