A dedicated World of Warcraft Classic player has achieved a remarkable feat in the game's hardcore self-found mode: reaching level 60 with every available class. This accomplishment involves playing without dying and without any external assistance, meaning no trading, mail, or auction house use. All gear and resources must be acquired personally.
The player, known as Foxdog175 on the r/classicwow subreddit, detailed their journey, admitting that several of their characters had extremely close calls. Examples include a Warlock nearly perishing to boat captains with critically low health, a Rogue surviving a mid-game disconnect, and a Paladin being saved by an aggro reset bug. In one instance, a Paladin used Divine Shield just before impact after a hunter, with whom they were questing, jumped prematurely into a chasm.
Foxdog's approach to leveling involved unconventional strategies, such as starting characters in starter zones and then traveling to other races' starting areas to gain experience. This method, they explained, maximizes the benefit of mob-level advantages early on. The compounding effect of gaining experience from mobs at a higher level is crucial, as it increases hit, crit, and dodge chances while simultaneously decreasing them for the enemies.
Following the completion of all-class hardcore runs, Foxdog pushed the challenge further by undertaking a naked fire mage run. This endeavor also presented significant risks, including near-death experiences in Ashenvale while AoEing furbolgs, being caught by a net and attacked near boat quests in Southern Arathi, and facing an elite rock-giant after an untimely teleport to Azshara. The player also recounted a perilous situation in Northern Felwood where, while assisting a warrior, they were left to fend off multiple furbolgs alone after the warrior departed. This naked fire mage run was described as being "a damn cat with nine lives."
