Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing five million players worldwide. This achievement comes as a surprise given the circumstances surrounding its original developer, Leenzee.

Initially, the game saw a successful launch, with industry analysts noting over one million copies sold by March 2026. However, shortly after, the core team at Leenzee reportedly disbanded. This dissolution was attributed to the departure of key senior staff, with the remaining team allegedly refusing to transition into a support role for other projects. Despite this internal turmoil and no game updates since November 20th, 2025, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has maintained its player base, indicated by its 'mixed' reception on Steam.

Eurogamer's review characterized the game as "Soulslike comfort food," acknowledging its engaging action while noting a lack of significant innovation. The game's intellectual property rights have since been fully acquired by Italian publisher and developer Digital Bros for approximately €4 million in April. Meanwhile, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers producer and director Xia Siyuan has gone on to form a new studio.
