The soulslike game Wuchang is officially receiving a sequel, with original creator Xia Siyuan leading development at his new studio, Indolphinity. This announcement follows reports earlier this year that the development team behind Wuchang: Fallen Feathers had disbanded and that the game's director and producer, Xia Siyuan, was fired from original developer Leenzee.

While the Wuchang intellectual property was sold to Digital Bros, the parent company of publisher 505 Games, for approximately $4.6 million in April, the future of the series remained uncertain. However, 505 Games has now confirmed a new partnership with Xia Siyuan and his studio, Indolphinity, to create a new chapter in the Wuchang IP.

Indolphinity will spearhead the creative development of the Wuchang sequel, with 505 Games providing funding and global publishing. Development will continue to be based in China. Xia Siyuan expressed enthusiasm for the renewed collaboration, stating that his team, as homegrown Chinese creators, believes a rich cultural heritage is central to their games' identity and competitive edge. He also highlighted 505 Games' respect for the creative process and understanding of developer needs as aligning with Indolphinity's values, fostering confidence in the series' long-term future.

Digital Bros co-CEO Raffi Galante echoed this sentiment, stating that the company "strongly believes in Wuchang as a long-term global franchise." The sequel has officially entered its preparation phase. This development offers a new opportunity for the Wuchang series after its initial team's reported dissolution, with its original creator now at the helm of its continuation.
